Hey everyone! Since I’ve rebranded my blog, I wanted to access more public health and sustainability content, but these kinds of posts weren’t showing up on my Discover search on WordPress. This made me think that either:
1) not many people post about these topics, or
2) people who post about these topics don’t host their websites on WordPress (and thus don’t show up when I search by tag or on the Discover search)
This made me think:
WordPress has got to have a way to let their users access blog content from other platforms and have it show up on their Reader!
So I did what any curious investigator does these days and I Googled…and found the solution!
When you go to your WordPress homepage, you’ll see on your left-hand side “Followed Sites” and a “Manage Button” next to it.
Click on that button and you’ll see a list of all the sites and blogs you follow! At the top of the list there is a search bar where you can type in the URL of the blogs you want to follow (example below).
Just hit “enter” on your keyboard and you’ll add that website or blog to your list of sites you follow, and the next time you go to your Reader you’ll see their new posts 🙂
I haven’t found a way around posting on these platforms if they’re not hosted by WordPress, but I really like the functionality of being able to view their posts and share them across social media if I wish to do so!
Hope you found this tip helpful 🙂
